Country Girl is Going off the Market!

*Deep breath*. No, this post isn't a joke. And it's actually something that's been weighing heavily on my mind these past few months. I wasn't sure if I should do it, so I had a few discussions with some friends and family about it. After begging for honesty from them, they agreed it was for the best.
So, yes. November 23rd, the day after Country Girl's two-year-birthday, I will be taking my beloved novella off the market. Honestly . . . it's bittersweet. This was the book that made me an author. BUT, like I mentioned above, it's for the best, time-being. And I'll mention my reasons below. 😉
So . . . why?
That was what I was wondering at first also.
But the honest answer is, it needs work. I wrote that book when I was thirteen, which was years ago. It was the first story I'd written in years, actually, so . . . *coughs* looking back now, not my best. It needs revising, so I'm doing to give it the attention it needs.
Which gets us to the exciting news - Country Girl will be re-releasing on her 3rd birthday, November 24th of 2026!
You guys, I am so stoked for this. Especially since I have plans to finish off the trilogy (my standalone will have a Country Boy and Country Children in tow!) that will be releasing the same day. Ahh!
So, yes. It's bittersweet. Country Girl is basically a reflection on my life when I was younger. And because of that . . . I don't want to change it too much. I want the simpleness to stay. I don't want to take away those silly family moments; the joys of growing up; that sense of belonging you feel when you make a new friend who is so like you.
That said, the storyline itself will stay pretty much the same. But I will be adding in more character development, more well-formed character arcs, richer descriptions, and (the part I'm most excited for heheh) . . . *drum roll* . . . a new cover! Plus a ton of other little updates, but those are the main ones.
So, mark your calendars. November 23rd will be the last day to buy an original (written by 13-year-old me XD) copy of Country Girl. I also have 17 author copies that you can order directly from me in case you would like one signed (order form here!). Plus, starting tomorrow, the price on Amazon for a paperback will be dropping from $14.00 to $7.00! 💛
To celebrate, here's a few of my favorite passages from the OG:
She ran till she came to the horse pen. It was large, with lots of room for grazing. Faith whistled and Rain lifted her head. Joyfully the mare trotted to the fence. Cloud came next. He raced across the field, his gray mane blowing in the wind.
"More books?" Faith said, dreaming of all the books they could collect. "We could buy a bunch of different series, like The Lord of the Rings, or The Wingfeather Saga, or The Green Ember. Oh! And I forgot about Narnia."
Faith loved her family and was so glad she had been born into this one. There was always gladness, joy, and love. And nothing could ever change that.
And then, my first photos of the book (proof copy edition 😌👌):

Until next time,

I’m soo sad and excited at the same time! 😆
That's so cool, Maya! I think you should do whatever you think is best!
I was sad at first... even though I've never read the book! I'd think it would be a sad situation!
But I was happy once you said it re-releasing!
