How to Deal with Writers Block
Writers block. We've all been there. In fact, I was dealing with it just last week, and I can tell you, it's no fun. That moment when you sit down to write, and all motivation vanishes. It sucks--it really does.
But guess what? It doesn't have to be that way! We're writers. We don't give up easily. And we definitely don't let writers block stop us from writing those stories we need to tell.
Today I'm here with some tips to help overcome writers' block. Let's dive in!
First of all, what is writers block?
Writers block happens when you sit down to write--and no inspiration comes. You feel stuck, and you don't know what should happen next in your story. Maybe you've even run out of motivation to write. I can definitely relate (*cough cough*).
Take a break from writing
Take a break?! But won't it encourage writers block? Well friends, you're not alone. That's what I thought at first too. And about it encouraging writers block--it doesn't! Maybe you're just burnt out and need a break from writing. But don't make the break too long! I remember Chuck Black saying once that whenever he needs to take a break from writing, he never goes over two days. The reason is because otherwise it's going to take some hard work catching up to your story again.
Pray
Prayer is so powerful, and God can help you through this! Take a moment to pray. God listens! <3
Take a walk
Ok, seriously, taking a walk outside in nature helps sooooo much. Whenever I get stuck or lose motivation to write, I go for a walk outside. I don't know if it's the fresh air or the exercise, but it's really refreshing. And I've found it helps generate ideas ;)
Push through!
Yup, you heard me right. Sometimes the best thing to do is just to sit down and write--push through that writers' block. Write something, anything! It doesn't matter if it turns out terrible--nobody has to read it :) What matters is that you wrote something. That you showed that nasty writers block that it isn't the one in control. You are.
Conclusion
I hope that helps! Remember, writers' block can be conquered. You just have to take the right steps, one at a time. You are the one in control of your story, not writers block. It's simply and obstacle you have to overcome. And guess what? You can do this--I know you can! You're a writer. You can do hard things.
Until next time,
