Country Girl: Book Review by Sophia Coleman

Hey readers! Today I have a guest post for you by my friend Sophia Coleman. Sophia read my published book, Country Girl a while back and wrote a review on it! So I’m excited to share with you this first guest post!

Book Review: Country Girl

12-year-old Faith is in for a surprise when new neighbors move in up the road from her family’s farm in Nebraska. One of them is her age! Faith and her new neighbor, Kirstie, both love horses and books and they soon become good friends. Faith, Kirstie, and Faith’s three sisters take part in many escapades, including starting their own business and persuading Faith’s dad to buy a dog from an animal shelter. And even when Faith gets sick, her friend and sisters faithfully look after her. As the year moves on, Faith is convinced of a very important thing…

Her life is an amazing blessing from the Lord.

This book is a heartwarming and cheerful glimpse into the day-to-day life of a homeschool girl and her family living on a farm in the Midwest. It’s inspired by the author's own life, and is full of sweet moments of love, family and friendship (and cute pets). I found many of the moments with Faith’s sisters to be laugh-out-loud hilarious, especially Hope’s regular late-night reading and Charity’s swapping of soup recipes with her friend Lucy. I especially enjoyed Faith’s story since I grew up as part of a big family in rural New Zealand, so her enthusiasm and many adventures were very relatable for me. This book is a special read for girls of all ages.
